Better late than never! April got off to an odd start. I’m blaming Easter and the resultant chocolate coma… The simple truth is, I’ve just been finding it difficult to think, let alone be organised or productive with my work. Maybe it’s not the chocolate, it could be the change of weather or even the end of daylight savings here in the southern hemisphere (or they could just be excuses!). Regardless, it’s becoming quite frustrating and I need to get it sorted.
My key objectives for April are:
As an additional income strategy, selling plants has already proved its potential to create a nice little cash side hustle but it will only work if I have a continuous supply of quality plants to sell. The best (and cheapest) way to do that is via propagation. So, lots of cuttings to take and seeds to plant!
I really suck at organisation. It’s never come to me naturally and I often joke it’s on the same gene as ‘cleaning’. A gene that has definitely failed to express itself in my DNA. As a result, being organised is something I need to work on, consciously, every-single-day. What I really need is to figure out a way to embed organised in a habit or routine that I don’t need to think about all the time. Quite the challenge!
Not surprisingly, good organisation is central to a number of other important achievements. I’m planning on greater productivity being one of them. Along with being more relaxed and less distracted.
I’ve been working on decluttering my work area and I’m looking forward to reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing when it finally arrives – I think I’m currently number 29 on the library waiting list. Meanwhile, I’ll keep working through eliminating the superfluous, and streamlining the important. My biggest challenge in the declutter stakes is being too precious about… well, everything. There’s a catharsis in letting things (and the rest) go but it can be a tough journey.
Keeping it Simple
My plan for April is a relatively simple one, and deliberately so, with just these two primary goals. However, as always, I’ll still be focused on keeping my spending to a minimum and staying on budget while also looking for ways to expand my income.
And, in the ongoing search for a solution to my insomnia, I’ll be exploring ways of dealing with stress. Who knows, I might even manage a trip to the cinema in April, too.
